The First UK printing published by Gollancz, London in 1964. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. Light pushing at the spine ends. The gilt to the publisher’s logo at the base of the spine is dulled but the titling remains very bright. Mild bumping to the corners. Very light toning to the text-block. Internally clean and free from inscriptions. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good condition. Mild edge-wear with a little loss at the lower spine. Some spotting and darkening to the flap folds and lower rear edge. Tiny loss to the letter ‘D’ on the author’s name on the spine. Some age related darkening to the spine. The 'Gollancz Sci-Fi' Wraparound Band is complete with toning to the spine portion and a small nick and rub to the upper edge of the front portion. Light spotting to the band in places. The book’s title is printed on the front flap edge of the band. The wrapper and band present well in the removable Brodart archival cover. The author’s very scarce third book, a collection of twelve stories including 'The Drowned Giant,' 'The Terminal Beach' and 'End-Game'. Only the second copy we have handled with the wraparound band.
