Scarce With The Wrapper
Bradby, Christoper (Words By) & Bawden, Edward (Pictures By) ~ Well On The Road
G. Bell & Sons (London) : 1935
The First UK printing published by G. Bell & Sons (London) in 1935. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition. Original cloth-backed pictorial boards, a little stained at the head and foot, matching the minor chipping of the dust-wrapper. A little spotting to the text block and endpapers. Light offsetting to the end papers. Free from inscriptions. The binding remains tight with just a little laxity of the gathering at the pages 32-33. The scarce WRAPPER is price-clipped and is in Very Good++ condition. Mild edge wear with a couple of areas of loss to the head and tail of the spine (affecting the 'LL' of 'BELL' at the base). Light toning to the spine with a little spotting in places. The wrapper design looks very striking with the removable Brodart archival cover. B/W Illustrations in line by Edward Bawden throughout. A very early Bawden commission and very scarce with such attributes. Only the second copy we have handled with the wrapper.
