The First UK printing published by G. Bell & Sons, London in 1958. The BOOK is in near Fine condition with just a little pushing and fading at the extreme spine tips. Silver titling remains bright. Light toning to the text-block. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. A little loss at the upper front spine fold and less so the upper rear spine fold. A small closed tear to the upper front edge. Some toning to the spine which has encroached to the front cover. The wrapper looks very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. profusely illustrated in B/W throughout by J.S. Goodall. The book has been inscribed by the author's wife to the half-title and the author has also signed beneath the half-title tiger design. Roger Gilbert Lancelyn Green was a British biographer and children's writer. He was an Oxford academic who formed part of the Inklings literary discussion group along with C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien. A very scarce children's title more-so with such attributes.
