The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition with a little fading of colouring to the lower spine and the lower edge. Publisher's price sticker to the lower front flap as usually encountered. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been Signed on the front blank end paper by the author : ' For Christopher Holgate, with my best wishes, Christopher Isherwood'. Additionally Signed by Don Bachardy: ' For Christopher Holgate, from the book jacket artist, Don Bachardy, 30 March 1977'. Don Bachardy, a very successful artist in his own right was to remain Isherwood's partner until the latter's death in 1986. 'Christopher and His Kind' covers the most memorable ten years in the writer's life-from 1929, when Isherwood left England to spend a week in Berlin and decided to stay there until 1939, when he moved to America. His friends and colleagues during this time included W. H. Auden, Stephen Spender, and E. M. Forster, as well as colorful figures he met in Germany and later fictionalised in his Berlin novel 'Cabaret'. Scarce with such attributes.
