The First UK printing published by Jonathan Cape in 1990. The BOOK is in near Fine condition being free of erasures and markings. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition with just a hint of creasing at the upper spine. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been inscribed (in the year of publication) by the author to the half-title : 'With all my very best regards and hope to see you some day, Don McCullin, Oct 1990'. Profusely illustrated with a striking collection of McCullins photographic works and related commentary. From Biafra to Vietnam, Idi Amin, Jerusalem to Iran, Congo to French Foreign Legion. Sir Donald McCullin, CBE, Hon FRPS is a British photojournalist, particularly recognised for his war photography and images of urban strife. His career, which began in 1959, has specialised in examining the underside of society, and his photographs have depicted the unemployed, downtrodden and the impoverished. There was a major and highly acclaimed Tate Britain retrospective exhibition of his work in 2019. An important monograph covering the work of photo journalist and social documentarian Don McCullin. Not to be confused with the later revised edition of this title issued in 2015. Scarce with such attributes.
