The First UK printing of 'The Folio Society' production published in 2009. The BOOK is in Fine condition and appears unread. Original decorated cloth protected in a loose Mylar cover. Housed in the original publisher's slipcase which is in near Fine condition with just a little rubbing to the base. The book has been inscribed, signed and doodled to the title page: ' To Janetta, with tons of love, from Paddy'. He has also doodled some clouds, mountains and seagulls. The recipients was Janetta Parlade who was a literary socialite, veteran of the Bloomsbury set and a close friend of Patrick Leigh Fermor. 'The Cretan Runner' is an amazing account of the author's experiences as a member of the Cretan Resistance, smuggling arms, explosives and leading British, Australian and NZ agents through occupied areas. Patrick Leigh Fermor provides the translation and an introduction. Very scarce with such attributes with this being the only signed copy on the market at present. Leigh Fermor was to die two years later in 2011.
