Based on the acclaimed BBC series
Attenborough, David ~ The Tribal Eye : Signed By The Author
The BBC, London : 1976
The First UK printing published by The BBC, London in 1976. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition with just a hint of rubbing to the lower edge and the corners. Early splaying of the upper board. Light offsetting to the blank end-papers. Free from inscriptions and erasures. Some very light spotting and toning to the text-block. Light toning to the extreme page edges. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good+ condition. Slight rubbing at the upper spine tip and some very slight fading to the spine. A closed tear with some creasing of the laminate to the lower front panel with some tape reinforcement to the verso. The wrapper looks very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been signed (without dedication) by David Attenborough to the title page. Based on the acclaimed BBC series, there are chapters on the Dogon - master mask makers, smiths and builders, on the tribes of the American North-West, who still carve poles and dance masks, on cult houses in Melanesia, bronze-casting in West Africa, and rug-making among the nomads of Iran. Scarce with such attributes.
