The First UK printing published by Gollancz in 1962.The BOOK is in VERY GOOD ++ or better condition.Corners a little bumped with light pushing at the spine tips.A little foxing and dustiness to the text block.Light fading of the spine in places.The WRAPPER is in near FINE condition.It is price-clipped.Light browning to the spine.Spine tips and corners show some edge wear more noticeable to the upper spine.The Edward Ardizzone designed wrapper looks very presentable in the removable Brodart archival protector.An anthology of children's stories compiled by the Crime Dagger Winner and Children's author Christianna Brand.Wonderful B/W illustrations throughout by the author's brother Edward Ardizzone.The book has been INSCRIBED and SIGNED on the first blank endpaper:'Elizabeth,I think you may find some bits in here to delight you, as they do me.For your birthday,with love from the author,Christianna,1972' and further SIGNED by Edward Ardizzone.There is also another inscription on the front pastedown which appears to be in the same ink as that of Ardizzone's signature :'Angus has forgotten his present so he can share mine.Love from him.'The Elizabeth to whom the book has been inscribed to is the Booker shortlisted author ELIZABETH TAYLOR (The Author of 'Mrs Palfrey At The Claremont Hotel').A wonderful association copy .
