This 'plop up book' follows on from the success of 'Fungus the Bogeyman', a protagonist who was first introduced in the title book which was published by Briggs in 1977. Fungus, the protagonist, is a professional bogeyman, who has been employed in the role of scaring humans. With his green skin, horns, and fondness for cold, damp places, we here see Fungus engaged in a series of filthy activities including washing his trousers in a vat full of slime, eating toads, going to the bathroom, and in one memorable scene, scaring the living daylights out of a vicar, causing him to lose his false teeth. The book is thought to have had some influence on the writing of William Steig's 1990 book, Shrek. A wonderful copy, scarce signed.
