(Corvo, Fr Rolfe, Baron) : A True Recital of the Procedure of the First Banquet held by the Corvine Society at the Ambassador Club
Privately printed ( A J Symons?), London : 1929 : Sole UK printing
The sole UK printing privately printed ( A J Symons?), London in 1929. The OOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. Original cream printed wrappers. Spine and edges faintly browned, otherwise very clean internally . An extraordinary document recorded by A.J.A. Symons and giving an account of a eulogy in Corvo’s honour by Shane Leslie, a report on the arcane and absurd practices of the society and a speech by C.H.C. Pirie-Gordon. Also an eight course menu of the dinner with accompanying wines. These included caviare, lobster, chilled consommé, stuffed duck, cold chicken and three desserts all washed down with vodka, sherry, Montrachet 1916, Chambertin 1915, Krug, Chateau d’Yquem 1906, Croft’s 1904 and Courvoisier 1811. These were taken copiously as Symons observes that “the meeting did not so much end as deliquesce.” Rare. *OCLC* locates only a single copy.
