The First UK printing published by John Lehmann, London in 1950. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Tiny bumps to the upper edges and some very slight dustiness to the upper text-block. A neat contemporary previous owner's name to the front upper blank end paper, otherwise internally clean. The WRAPPER is neatly price clipped and is in near Fine condition. Some very light edge-were with a little toning to the edges and spine. The John Minton wraparound wrapper artwork looks striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. The celebrated cook's first published book which is profusely illustrated throughout by John Minton. A sharp copy. Accompanied with 'the Memorial Service for Elizabeth David CBE 1913-1992', which took place at St-Martins-in-the Fields, London on the 10th of September 1992. This 4 page booklet within printed card covers is near Fine condition. B/W illustrations by John Minton who also has his wrapper artwork for David's second published book 'French country cooking' reproduced for the pamphlet cover design. Very scarce with such attributes.
