The author's Edgar Award winning debut novel
Forsyth, Frederick ~ The Day of the Jackal : Signed By The Author
Hutchinson, London : 1971
The First UK printing published by Hutchinson, London in 1971. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Light bump to the upper front corner. Original red boards lettered in gilt at the spine and with a small vignette. Some very light spotting to the top- and fore-edge, and a little light partial toning to the free endpapers as is invariably the case. A small crease to the upper corner of most pages, presumably a production issue. The WRAPPER is neatly price-clipped and is in near Fine condition with no fading to the publisher's red colouring to the spine. Light rub to the front upper corner and a barely discernible tiny rub to the front panel. Very light vertical crease to the front flap. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. This copy has been signed and dated (2003) by the author to a bookplate affixed to the front free endpaper. Author's Edgar Award winning debut novel and the basis for director Fred Zinnemann's masterful film adaptation starring Edward Fox in the lead role. Scarce in this condition.
