The sole UK printing published by The Old Bourne Press, London in 1903. An unnumbered out of series copy. The limitation was only two hundred copies. Wood-engraved decorative title, borders, initials and endpapers designed by James Guthrie and engraved by Reginald B. Lodge and Clemence Housman. oblong 8vo (14.5 x 18cm), original quarter cloth over patterned paper covered boards. Frontis guard present. A near Fine copy. Washington Herbert Broome was a notable figure in the Arts and Crafts movement in the late 19th/early 20th Century. Broome worked with William Morris at the Kelmscott Press before establishing The Old Bourne Press with James Guthrie in 1902 at Holborn. In 1907 Broome built the Arts and Crafts house Avalon in Bushey, which is now a listed historic building. With the publisher’s 4 page 1903-1904 List of publications of the Old Bourne Press’, which details this title. A very handsome production with the very scarce ephemeral flyer. The book is protected in a removable Mylar archival cover.
