The sole UK printing published by Petersburg Press, London in 1970. The BOOK is in Very Good ++ or better condition. A small book measuring 11 x 7.5cm. Original silver-lettered blue leatherette. Light toning to the text-block and extreme page edges. Silver titling to the front board remains bright with just of the letters slightly rubbed. Some light toning and spotting to the text-block. The spotting has lightly encroached onto the extreme page edges in a few places. A light small stain to the upper edge of four pages ( see images) but not affecting the text or images. The book has been inscribed by the illustrator to the title page : 'For Hilary, from David Hockney'. The recipient Hilary Wilson has penned her name to the upper front paste-down. The book is protected in a removable Mylar archival cover. The trade edition of this tiny book featuring Hockney's intricate etchings for the Grimm stories 'The Little Sea Hare', 'Fundevogel', 'Rapunzel', 'The Boy Who Left Home to Learn Fear', 'Old Rinkrank', and 'Rumpelstilzchen'. The 39 black and white plates present here, were first exhibited at the Kasmin Gallery in 1970 and published in four portfolio editions, reproduced here in miniature. The text is that translated from the German by Heiner Bastien. Text printed by Oxford University Press. A handsome production and now very scarce with such attributes.
