The First UK printing published by The Hogarth Press In 1939. The BOOK is in Very Good+ condition. Some toning to the spine and cover edges with some light marks to the lower spine. Light toning to the text-block but the top-stain remains bright. Free from inscriptions. Mild offsetting to the blank end-papers. The original WRAPPER is now complete, having undergone some expert professional restoration to the edges and spine ends. Some light creasing to the covers. The Humphrey Spender wrapper artwork now presents very well in the removable Brodart archival cover. A cut signature of the author has been tipped in to the title page. Isherwood's evocative classic novel about the last days of Weimar Germany. Increasingly scarce.
