The First UK printing published by Ernest Benn, London in 1958. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. The gilt titling and gilt vignette to the front board remain vibrant. Light toning to the text-block with some pin-point superficial indentations to the fore-edge of the text-block. Small previous owner label to the upper front blank-end-paper. Some light spotting to the endpapers and more faintly to some of the page edges due to the cheap quality of the paper stock used. Otherwise, clean internally. The WRAPPER is complete and is in exceptional Very Good++ or better condition. Some uniform light fading of the yellow colouring and the red author titling to the spine. The red titling to the front panel remains unfaded. Minor age related markings with some very light edge-wear at the corners. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. Written and Illustrated by Tove Jansson. Translated by Thomas Warburton. Jansson's striking B/W illustrations throughout. An excellent copy of the sixth book in the Moomin series. By far, the nicest copy we have handled to date.
