Large 8vo., finely bound by Andrew Sims in half black morocco, ruled in gilt, over decorative marbled paper boards; five raised bands, lettered and decorated direct in gilt to spine with decorative devices in compartments; upper edge gilt; cream endpapers; illustrated throughout with full colour frontis, title vignette, and 11 further colour plates by Gentleman, as well as numerous other black and white in-text illustrations by the same; THE BOOK a beautiful, fine copy. First thus of this illustrated edition of Keats's poems by the Heritage Press, bound by the award-winning binder Andrew Sims, who was awarded the Fine Cut International Award for Finishing in 2015, the Historic Binding First Prize and Fine Cut International Award for Finishing in 2017, and the same again in 2022, all by the Society of Bookbinders International Competitions. His bindings are characterised by their fine gold tooling. The illustrations are provided by David Gentleman, an artist who trained under John Nash and Edward Bawden, and whose lithographs are perhaps best memorialised today at Charing Cross underground station, as well as in postage stamps and numerous publications for the Folio Society and Faber. His artworks can be found at a huge number of British art galleries nationwide including Tate Britain, the British Museum, the V&A and the Fitzwilliam. A beautiful edition of Keats' collected works, with an introduction by Aileen Ward, the American professor who spent nine years researching her award-winning biography 'John Keats: The Making of a Poet'. All of Keats' most famous verses are here present, including 'Imitation of Spenser', 'On Seeing the Elgin Marbles', 'Endymion', 'The Eve of St. Agnes' and 'Le Belle Dame sans Merci'.
