Lewis, C.S. ~ Till We Have Faces
Geoffrey Bles, London : 1956
The First UK printing published by Geoffrey Bles, London in 1956. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Just a hint of pushing at the spine tips and a little light band of offsetting to the blank end-papers. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition. A small 3cm closed tear to the upper spine fold and a very tiny closed tear to the front lower edge. No fading of colouring to the spine. The wrapper artwork by Biggs looks striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. Finally written in a 'full flush of inspiration. It was certainly his most unexpected book, and his greatest tour de force; to many readers, and probably to himself, his best work of fiction (even if 'Perelandra' remained his favourite)' (Green & Hooper, C. S. Lewis: A Biography, 1974, p. 265). An exceptional copy.
