The First UK printing published by Elkin Matthews, London in 1903. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition. Stiff printed card wrappers. Small losses at the spine ends and a few age related markings to the covers. Splitting to the lower half of the front cover spine fold but the cover is securely attached. Moderate spotting to the prelims and rear pages, less so internally with the odd spotting, due to the quality of the paper stock used. The author has penned , signed and dated ( July 15 , 1919) the first stanza of the poem 'Roadways' to the front blank end-paper. This 3 stanza poem appears in this collection. One of Masefield's other iconic poem 'Cargoes' first appears in this collection. The book is protected in a removable Mylar archival cover. John Edward Masefield, OM was an English poet and writer. He was Poet Laureate from 1930 until his death in 1967. Among his best known works are the children's novels 'The Midnight Folk' and 'The Box of Delights', and the poems "The Everlasting Mercy" and "Sea-Fever". Scarce with such attributes.
