The First UK printing published by Heinemann, London in 1935. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition. Some light pushing and splitting to the spine tips. Hint of rubbing to the corners. Top-stain still present. Light toning and spotting to the text-block. Internally clean. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. Some losses to the spine ends and corners (see images). The spine is toned and there is some spotting to the wrapper. Light edge-wear and rubbing to the folds. The wrapper artwork remans striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. Striking end-paper illustrations and wrapper artwork by the author’s daughter Judith Masefield. The B/W illustrations throughout are un-attributed. This title is also known as ‘When The Wolves Were Running’ and is a sequel to ‘The Midnight Folk’ and follows Kay Harker on a magical Christmas adventure filled with mystery, danger, and wonder. Masefield's rich storytelling and vivid imagination make this book a timeless treasure for readers of all ages. There have been several BBC Radio adaptations. A BBC TV adaptation of 'The Box of Delights' was broadcast in six parts in 1984 and was widely acclaimed winning a number of BAFTA and RTS awards, in particular for its special effects.
