An increasingly rare title to find with its original wrapper
Milne, A.A. ~ The Christopher Robin Story Book
Methuen, London : 1929
The First UK printing published by Methuen, London in 1929. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. Light pushing at the spine ends. The gilt titling and decorations remain bright. One small previous owner's name to the extreme upper front pastedown (occluded by the wrapper front flap) and a penned gift inscription to the blank verso of the front end-paper. Some slight spotting and toning to the text-block. Some very light spotting to the page edges in places. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. A slither of loss to the foot of the spine and to the upper front corner. A number of closed tears including a 6cm closed tear to the lower rear flap fold. These have been repaired to the verso with clear archival tape. The fragile E.H. Shepard wrapper artwork presents very well in the removable Brodart archival cover. Profusely illustrated throughout in B/W by E.H. Shepard. Loosely laid in is a small charming coloured pen and ink illustration 'Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh' by an unknown hand. An increasingly rare title to find with its original wrapper. Collectible.
