Edwin Muir used the pseudonym of ‘Edward Moore’ to publish this, his first book. The First UK printing published by George Allen & Unwin, London in 1918. The BOOK is in near Fine condition with just a hint of toning to the text-block and page edges. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The paper label to the spine is very clean and complete. The scarce WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ condition. Mild edge wear with toning to the spine. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. 1030 copies were printed but significantly less were bound. 190 unbound copies were destroyed in a 1940 bombing raid, and the remainder of the unbound stock was purchased in 1960 by Bertram Rota and issued in a slightly different binding. The book did not appear under Muir's own name until the USA edition was published in 1920. The author's first book and extremely scarce to find with the wrapper. In 1965 a volume of Muir's selected poetry was edited and introduced by T.S. Eliot.
