A sharp copy of an increasingly elusive title

Newby, P.H. & Vaughan, Keith (Illus.) ~ The Spirit Of Jem

John Lehmann, London : 1947

The First UK printing published byJohn Lehmann, London in 1947. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Light offsetting to the blank end-papers with some mild ghosting to the spine as usually encountered. Free from inscriptions and erasures. Light toning and spotting to the upper text-block. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition. Lightly toned to the spine with some slight rubbing and light edge-wear in places. Publisher's later 'cheap edition 3s 6d net' sticker over the 8s 6d net printed price to the lower front flap. The Keith Vaughan wrapper artwork remains striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. The British Neo-Romoantic artist provides numerous B/W illustrations throughout, many full-page. This was P.H. Newby's second book. A sharp copy of an increasingly elusive title
