The book was issued in a strictly limited edition ( 59 copies) and was offered firstly to the subscribers to the original edition (they were offered a numbered copy matching the original edition the original number they purchased). Any copies that were not taken up by the subscribers were then subsequently freely available to purchase and were numbered in Roman numerals. The edition has the following attributes : Printed across three Zerkall papers, no longer made ; Frontis on Barcham Green ‘Dover’ handmade paper from 1982 ; An Essay in two-colour letterpress text, across 28 printed pages (plus prelims), detailing the illustrations ; Illustrated with 78 small production stage images across 7 further pages (plus end matter) ; Bound by Ludlow Bindery in half elephant hide and half repeat pattern paper ; Size: 350mm (h) x 250mm (w). The edition was 'Limited to 59 copies only with no possibility for more copies'. This copy is number 'V'. The Roman numeral numbered copies were offered to buyers who hadn't subscribed to the original edition. James Freemantle is a printer and book artist originally starting his Press in London near St. James Park (hence the name) and now resides in Stansted. He studied English Literature with Film before moving into legal studies. He is a private press printer and displays his work at numerous fine press book fairs around the world, and his works are held in collections of a great deal of notable institutions such as V&A, Yale, the University of Texas' Harry Ransom Center, and the Bodleian Library (to name a few). A handsome production, increasingly scarce and collectible.
