Signed twice, with Booker Prize bookmark and event ticket

PIERRE, DBC [Peter Warren FINLAY] ~ Vernon God Little. Double signed and lined by the author.

FIRST UK PRINTING. Faber and Faber, London: 2003.

8vo., white publisher's boards, backstrip lettered in black with Faber device to foot; bright red endpapers; together in the unclipped dustwrapper (£12.99) designed by Pentagram; THE BOOK with text block slightly toned; ffep just beginning to come away, else near-fine; THE WRAPPER fine. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. First UK edition, first printing. This copy double signed by the author to the title page as both Peter Finlay and DBC Pierre, along with the line 'Me ves y sufres' (translated as 'See me and suffer'). These words are tattooed on Vernon's chest. Also complete with a 2003 Booker Prize bookmark, and an event ticket to the original signing, in itself signed by DBC Pierre in black ink. A fine copy of this Booker Prize-winning novel, and the debut of DBC Pierre. The book is a black comedy, centering around the protagonist, Vernon, who is accused of being an accomplice to a mass shooting at his local high school. Written in the style and voice of a teenage boy (Act I begins 'Shit Happened'), the book was described by Booker Prize judges as a "coruscating black comedy reflecting our alarm but also our fascination with America", and covers themes of adolescence, materialism and consumerism. The book has been adapted twice for stage, most famously at the Young Vic in 2007, starring Colin Morgan as Vernon and Penny Layden as Vaine. Scarce with these attributes.
