Priestley, J.B. ~ Benighted
Heinemann, London : 1927
The First UK printing published by Heinemann, London in 1927. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition with light pushing at the spine ends. Some spotting to the text-block and offsetting to the blank end-papers. Free from inscriptions. Some light foxing to the page edges and more-so to the prelims, as always encountered due to the quality of the paper stock used. The wrapper is in Very Good++ or better condition. Lightly toned to the spine, some light spotting and some minor tape reinforcement to the verso. Extremely scarce to find the wrapper in this condition. The wrapper artwork is striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. The later U.S.A. edition was titled 'The Old Dark House'. The novel was the basis for the 1932 film, directed by James Whale starring Boris Karloff, Melvyn Douglas, Charles Laughton, Raymond Massey and others. A very collectible copy of Priestley's elusive second novel.
