Winner of the 1973 National Book Award
Pynchon, Thomas ~ Gravity’s Rainbow : The Scarce Hardback Edition In Excellent Condition
Jonathan Cape, London : 1973
The First UK printing published by Jonathan Cape, London in 1973. The BOOK is in near Fine condition and appears unread. Light pushing at the spine ends with some mild offsetting to the end papers. The original boards and pages are exceptionally clean. Free from inscriptions and erasures. Some minor light markings in places to the front text block. The black top stain remains vibrant. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ or better condition. Exceptionally bright colouring with just the merest hint of fading to the orange colouring the spine. A hint of edge-wear at the spine ends with a small 0.4cm closed tear to the front upper edge. The Marc Getter wrapper artwork remains very striking in the removable Brodart archival cover. A lovely example of a scarce major Thomas Pynchon title which was the 'Winner of the 1973 National Book Award'. Issued simultaneously with a wraps edition, this casebound edition is far more scarcer as most copies ended up in the library system. Extremely rare to find in such collectible condition.
