The scarce third title in the 'Mary Plain' bear stories
Rae, Gwynedd & Williamson, Irene (Illus.)~ Mary Plain In Town : The Literary Agents’ File Copy
Cobden-Sanderson, London : 1935
The First UK printing published by Cobden-Sanderson, London in 1935. The BOOK is in Very Good++ condition with a little fading and pushing at the spine ends and some light ghosting to the spine. Some light toning to the text-block and some offsetting to the blank end-papers. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The literary agents' file copy with the stamp of 'Pearn, Pollinger & Higham Ltd, 6 Norfolk Street, Strand WC2' to the lower front blank end-paper (Pearn, Pollinger & Higham were literary agents founded in 1935, so presumably they were the literary agents of Gwynedd Rae and this was one of their first commissions that they undertook). The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good condition. Some loss at the spine ends and corners with some closed tears to the upper front edge. Light fading and a little rubbing in places to the spine. A little red staining to the upper edge of the rear panel and the rear upper flap. The wrapper remains very presentable in the removable Brodart archival cover. Profusely illustrated in B/W by Irene Williamson throughout. The scarce third title in the 'Mary Plain' bear stories. Collectible.
