The First UK Printing published by The Lion and The Unicorn Press, London in 1972 and printed at The Curwen Press. Number '6' of only seven numbered copies reserved by arrangement with the publisher for fine binding by Zaehnsdorf. This copy has been specially bound by Zaehnsdorf for 'David A. Watt' in brown morocco-backed vellum, with five raised bands, spine gilt in compartments and all edge gilt. Housed in the publisher's matching morocco lined slipcase. The BOOK is complete and is in Fine condition. One of 500 copies of the first edition. 421 engravings printed on rectos of 113 leaves, some folding. Printing on Grosvenor Chater's Basingwerk Parchment at The Curwen Press. Striking Ravilious patterned paper end-papers. The slipcase has some slight markings to the cloth. An exceptionally fine copy of an important catalogue raisonne of the wood engravings of Eric Ravilious, designed by John Carrod with an introduction by J.M. Richards who has signed his entry. An extremely handsome production. Loosely inserted is the publisher's 4 page Prospectus.
