Very Scarce With The Original Wrapper

The First UK printing published by Faber and Faber in 1942 (nd). The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition. Very light rubbing to the board edges. Light spotting to the end papers. Free from inscriptions. A hint of toning to the age edges. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ or better condition. It is neatly clipped. Light edge wear to the spine ends with a small closed tear to the front lower edge repaired to the verso with archival tape. Light toning to the wrapper edges. The wrapper is protected in a loose Mylar cover. Profusely illustrated throughout in full page colour and B/W byJan Lewitt and George Him, notable graphic designers in partnership as Lewitt-Him for many years. The first title in the 'Little Red Engine' series. The only title in this series illustrated by Lewitt-Him with subsequent titles being illustrated by Leslie Wood. A very scarce survivor with such attributes.
