The First UK printing published by Jonathan Cape, London in 1981. The BOOK is in near Fine condition with just a hint of toning to the upper text-block. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ or better condition. Light fading of the blue colouring to the spine and very slight toning to the spine extreme lower tip. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been Signed (without dedication) to the title page by the author and a ticket for the signing event accompanies this title as provenance. Comes complete with the rare wrap-around band announcing the book to be the 'Winner of the 1981 £10,000 Booker McConnell Prize for Fiction'. The band has a little loss to one of the ends and is a little rubbed in places, but is a nice addition to this signed book. Bill Botten (the wrapper illustrator) has reproduced the front panel wrapper artwork on the front blank end paper and signed this artwork. The artwork is protected with a loosely inserted tissue guard. Midnight's Children has been judged as the 'The best of the Booker Prize winners'. Bill Botten has illustrated very few copies with such original artwork and at the time of listing, the only available copy on the market. Collectible.
