Small 8vo., bright pink boards lettered in black to upper cover; contained in the rare printed dustwrapper featuring a design in red to the upper panel (unclipped, 5/- net to front flap); upper edge stained blue; THE BOOK with exceptionally clean boards, the edges perhaps a little faded and bumped; some spotting to the edges of the text block and prelims; previous bookseller's sticker to front paste-down; THE WRAPPER very good, seldom found at all but here found with some light even shelf wear and darkening, light spotting, nicks, and some chips to the edges of folds and particularly spine tips (a little loss of lettering at both head and foot); the front panel creased at the lower edge with a short 2cm closed tear; neatly repaired internally with tape. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. FIRST UK EDITION, sole printing. This copy in the exceptionally scarce WWII wrapper. Compilled by Theodora Roscoe and Mary Winter Were, with a Foreword by P. H. B. Lyon. Contributions include Sackville-West's 'Fritallaries'; Vera Britten's 'Boar's Hill'; Dorothy Wellesley's 'The Buried Child'; Camilla Doyle's 'White Owl and Four More', and many others. Not listed in Cross bibliography under Anthologies. Most library copies hold only the much later American reprint.
