This limited edition is the true first UK printing having been published in advance of the trade edition on Wednesday March 24th 1993. This copy is letter 'H' of the 26 copies lettered A-Z, bound in the publisher's original full red morocco with gilt titling. This copy is uniquely signed by the author with a holograph quotation from the book to the limitation page. The BOOK is in near Fine condition with just some very light toning to the text-block and extreme page edges. According to the publisher, this was the first UK edition, preceded only by the first Indian edition. The quotation in this copy starts with the letter 'H' : ' 'Have you read anything by me?', 'No', said Lata. 'I was sure there'd be a copy of your book in this house, but - ', Vikram Seth'. Protected in a loose Mylar archival cover. The BBC has just broadcast a six-part series of the novel (three years in the making) written by Andrew Davis (of 'Pride and Prejudice' to 'War and Peace' fame) and directed by Mira Nair (winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice film festival with her 2001 film 'Monsoon Wedding'). Highly collectible.
