The book is protected in a removable archival sleeve. First UK edition, with full number line 1-10. This copy signed by Stoppard in blue ink to the title page. One of reportedly only 200 copies which were signed upon issue. An account of the Trojan War from the perspective of Odysseus’s wife, Penelope, which recalls how the task to recover Helen of Troy ‘took away my husband for ten years, and ten more coming the long way home’, as well as recounting his dramatic arrival back on Ithaca. Commissioned by the late composer André Previn, it was set to Previn’s music and sung by Renée Fleming in its US première in Tanglewood in 2019. "Let others sing of war and a hero buffeted by fate.
