The First UK printing published by Faber in 1967. This is the scarce casebound edition. The BOOK is in near FINE condition. A few light marks to the covers. A little toning and spotting to the text block. Light offsetting to the end papers. The corners are sharp and the gilt titling remains very bright. Small area of tape residue to the front pastedown where the accompanying letter was formerly stuck down (corresponding area on the upper edge of the loose letter). Free from inscriptions and markings. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near FINE condition. It bears the correct price of 18s. net. Very minor edge wear in places. A hint of toning and fading to the spine colouring. The rear panel is lightly soiled but far less than usually encountered.A sharp copy.T he book has been Signed by Tom Stoppard to the title page. A ticket for the signing event accompanies this title as provenance. Also accompanied by a loose typed LETTER which has been Hand Corrected and Signed by Tom Stoppard. This is a very early letter from 1968 which refers to the ending of the play being changed during the National Theatre rehearsal period. Amusingly, Stoppard also apologies for his secretary's typos!.
