The Centenary Edition illustrated by Alan Lee. 3 Vols : The First UK printings of this edition published by Harper Collins, London in 1992. Housed in the publisher's slipcase. The BOOKS are all in near Fine unread condition. Free from inscriptions, erasures and bookplates. The WRAPPERS are all complete and are in near Fine condition. The wrappers are all protected in removable Brodart archival covers. The original publisher's Slipcase is in Very Good condition with some rubbing and marking in places. The sliver titling and 'The Centenary' decoration remain bright. Alan Lee's classic illustrations were first published in Harper Collins' 'New' [single-volume] edition of 1991. This is their first appearance in the work in its original three-volume form and were issued to mark the centenary of J.R.R. Tolkien''s birth. Very scarce to find in such collectible condition. This is a heavy set and extra postage costs will be required for international shipping.
