The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. First edition, inscribed by Uttley to the front free endpaper: "To [?] with good wishes for happy reading from Alison Uttley. Aug 6. 1973." A collection of essays from the author of Little Grey Rabbit, on her early experiences of her childhood in Derbyshire, her years as a science teacher in London before the First World War, and ending with a lecture she gave on the subject of the poet Walter de la Mare a few years before his death. Together with the wonderfully evocative illustrations by Tunnicliffe, who is himself best known for his interpretations of Tarka the Otter.
